About Mitchell Flower Farm
Our Story
Here at Mitchell Flower Farm, near Sevenoaks, we are passionate about growing local flowers naturally. We cultivate our blooms without chemicals and use peat-free compost to enrich the sandy loam of our land which has been in our family for four generations.
Everyone loves fresh flowers in their home, but there is something especially fun and beautiful about assembling your own selection of local blooms right here in the field. Feel free to wander the rows at leisure, snips and bucket in hand, and let your imagination go wild.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Book for a bucket of beautiful, local flowers
Come and pick your own flowers at the field at a time that suits you. Book a session to pick a Regular Bucket or a Small Bucket. On arrival we will give you snips and the bucket for you to pick into. After picking, we will wrap the flowers for you to take home (using compostable water-retaining wrap to keep them fresh in the car). Alternatively pay a little extra in the Shed to take the bucket home (£5 for a Regular bucket, £3 for a Small bucket). Slots are limited to ensure the best quantity and quality of flowers throughout the season so you can be sure you will have a great selection of beautiful, local flowers and a peaceful field!

These buckets will fit at least 30 good-length stems to make a lovely large bunch or several smaller displays. Choose from cosmos, dahlias, ammi, snapdragons, larkspur and many more!
Small Flower Bucket
£15
Perfect for the beginning of the season when stems are shorter, these are great for sweetpeas, calendula, nigella, strawflowers, and short stemmed cosmos and dahlias that might get a bit lost at the bottom of a Regular bucket. Also great for kids. Each bucket will fit 20-25 stems.

Book an evening at the field for your own private event
If you're picking flowers for a wedding, a party, or just want to get together with friends to pick some flowers and hang out in a beautiful setting, our new Thursday Flowers and Fizz evenings give you the exclusive use of the flower field for up to 6 people.
Wedding and party flowers
Bring your bridesmaids, family and friends and pick flowers for your big day in the cool of the evening with a glass of fizz and watch the sun set. Put the flowers somewhere cool and give them plenty of water when you get home and they will be in perfect condition in the morning to arrange for your weekend event. Each guest will be given a regular bucket to fill with the flowers of their choice.
Or just book for a get together with friends
Why not book for a group of friends to meet at the field, each pick a regular bucket of flowers and then enjoy a glass of fizz and hang out in the lovely surroundings of our Kent farm?
What does it cost and what do you get?
For £250 you will have exclusive use of the flower field for your group for two hours from 5pm-7pm on the Thursday you book for up to 6 people. You will be given snips and 6 Regular buckets to pick into. Feel free to wander the rows picking whatever catches your eye, and we will be on hand if you have any questions or need any tips on how to cut for best vase life. We will then wrap the flowers for you to take home. If you are travelling far we would recommend bringing your own containers to transfer the flowers to so they can be in water for a long journey.
Also included is a glass of Prosecco (or No-secco) each and a few nibbles to share (now you're really pushing the boat out, Ed.) Straw bale seating is provided under the chestnut trees with the perfect view of the hay meadow and the flower field as the sun starts to set.

Do I have to book?
Please click to book and pay £25 to pick a Regular bucket or £15 to pick a Small Bucket of flowers. This guarantees you a great selection of flowers and a peaceful field. When you arrive we will give you snips and the bucket you have booked. Afterwards we can wrap the flowers for you (with compostable water-retaining wraps to keep them fresh in the car). Alternatively pay a little extra in the Shed after picking to take the bucket home with you (£5 for a Regular bucket, £3 for a Small bucket).
How can I find you?
Mitchell Flower Farm is in Bitchet Green, near Sevenoaks, Kent. You can find us just down from the cricket ground at Bitchet Green along Rooks Hill Road. Keep an eye out for a farm gate on your left. The nearest postcode is TN15 0NG, and you can also locate us using What3Words: flap.rail.clay. Don’t forget to look for the orange banner by the metal farm gate to find our local flowers! Please be aware that if you put Rooks Hill Road into sat nav it may take you to the wrong place so best look on Google Maps for the Mitchell Flower Farm pin to see our exact location.
How big is the flower farm?
We grow flowers in a 20m x 20m plot in the corner of one of our fields on the farm. There are 20 beds with paths between.
Can I book more than one bucket?
Yes, simply select 'Add another service' at checkout to book another bucket.
When are you open?
Our Kent flower farm is open for bookings on Wednesdays from 6-8pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-3pm. Our Flowers and Fizz events are available to book for private groups on Thursdays from 5pm-7pm. We welcome bookings from June to early October.
Are there any access issues?
Cars can park in the field on the grass, weather conditions permitting. If it rains, the tracks can get muddy, and I may have to close, so please check the website beforehand if it is wet. The paths between the flowerbeds are fairly level, but sensible footwear is advised!
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs on short leads are welcome.
Are there are any facilities on site?
Since the flowers are in a farm field, there are no loos. I'd love to get a coffee cart here one day, but sadly, this is one for the future.
Can I bring my own container to pick into?
To simplify pricing, we provide the buckets for you to fill. For a small additional fee, you can take these buckets home with you. Alternatively you can transfer the flowers into your own container or we can wrap them in compostable water-absorbent material and paper to keep them perky on the journey home. If you have a long way to travel or will be stopping off on the way home – especially if it is hot – I would recommend bringing a container so the flowers can be transported in water to keep them fresh.
Do I have to bring cash?
No, we have a card machine.
What if I need to reschedule my booking?
If you have booked a picking slot or Flowers and Fizz event but have to reschedule because of rain or any other reason you can do this online. Click on the confirmation link we have emailed you with the booking and Create an Account. You can then manage your bookings. Alternatively just get in touch and we will sort it for you.
