Wander around our beautiful flower field and pick whatever catches your eye
We grow local flowers without pesticides or weedkillers on our beautiful Kent farm.
The 2025 pick your own flower season is getting closer! I am open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm from June to mid October. But look out for spring bulb days in April. No need to book but please check the website before you head off in case of unexpected closure or updates on what is available
When you arrive choose from four container sizes - the Jam Jar (£10), Small Flower Bucket (£15), Slim Flower Bucket (£25) or Large Flower Bucket (£50). Pick your flowers into the bucket and either transfer them to your own container or take the bucket home for a few extra quid. When you have finished picking, we can take payment in the field either by cash or card.
Early April 2025 - the camassias are gathering steam. Fingers crossed for beautiful pale blue flowers this month or next. The first plantings are in too - sweetpeas, ammi majus and herbs to join the cornflowers, Canterbury Bells and nigella already in situ. In the greenhouse seed trays are full of cosmos and the dahlia tubers are being potted up
British flowers are having a boom time - and it’s a good thing too. More and more people are seeing the appeal of flowers grown in season and within a few miles of home rather than flown in from thousands of miles away.
Here at Mitchell Flower Farm near Sevenoaks in Kent we are passionate about growing flowers naturally. We grow without chemicals and use peat-free compost to enrich the sandy loam soil of the land our family has farmed for four generations. In my 'other life' as a gardening journalist, author and designer I have spent years building up knowledge about growing plants so it is a real pleasure to be able to take this back to the family farm.
Everyone loves fresh flowers in their home but there is something especially fun and beautiful about putting together your own selection. Feel free to wander the rows at leisure, snips and bucket in hand, and let your imagination go wild.
We can’t wait to welcome you to pick your own flowers.

Mitchell Flower Farm
There are four sizes available. Pick one when you arrive and pay afterwards. For a few extra quid take the bucket home to bring back next time!
This large flower bucket will fit at least 40 long flower stems to give you a massive bouquet or several smaller ones. Best when summer is in full swing and the flowers have had a chance to really get going. The number of stems that will fit depends on what you pick - dahlias, sunflowers and and snapdragons will take up more room than cosmos, verbena, or ammi. Bucket measures 28cm diameter, 32cm deep. For an extra £4 take the bucket home with you and you can bring it back next time!
You can expect to fit around 20-30 long stems into these slim flower buckets, enough for a large bunch or several smaller ones. Bucket measures 16cm diameter, 25cm deep. Bring a container to take your flowers home in or, for another £5, add the metal bucket to your order to use again.
Perfect for the beginning of the season when stems are shorter, these 13cm diameter 12cm deep galvanised buckets still pack in a lot of flowers. Great for sweetpeas, calendula, borage, cerinthe, strawflowers and short stemmed cosmos and dahlias. Take the bucket home with you for another £3.
Great for kids or for when you want a small tabletop display. These are ideal for shorter stems that would get lost in a taller bucket – things like calendula, sweetness, cerinthe, strawflowers and Iceland poppies. Jam jar with lid included so you can use it again!
Add a footnote if this applies to your business
When you turn up choose from four bucket sizes, the Jam Jar, Small Flower Bucket, Slim Flower Bucket or Large Flower Bucket. The Jam Jar is £10 and ideal for kids or for tabletop flowers and the jar (with lid) is included. Bring it back for a refill for £8. The Small Flower Bucket is £15 and is perfect for shorter-stemmed flowers like sweetpeas, calendula, nigella and cerinthe. You can pack a lot in to give you enough for a couple of tabletop bases. The Slim Flower Bucket is £25 and will give you enough stems for a beautiful bouquet or several small ones. The Large Florist Bucket is £50 which will fit even more stems, giving you one massive showstopper bouquet or several smaller ones.
For a small additional payment take your Flower Buckets home with you - ready for your next visit! Add £3 for a Small Flower Bucket, £5 for a shiny metal Slim Flower Bucket and £4 for a plastic Large Florist bucket. Alternatively transfer your cut flowers to your own container in the car.
After you have picked your flowers, we can take remote payment in the field.
If you are planning an event and picking on Friday or Saturday doesn't work for you, do get in touch since I might be able to open on another day specially for you.
